Winter Tours

BASIC TOUR

Our BASIC TOUR is run twice daily at the 4 Eagle Ranch, an 1880’s homestead with uncluttered views, rich in history and old fashion charm.  Easily accessible from Vail (24mi.) or Beaver Creek (15mi.), dogsledding at the 4 Eagle is a unique experience.  Upon arriving at the 4E we’ll make final preparations (see WHAT TO WEAR) in the historic Nelson Cabin before we hit the trail.  We’ll glide silently through the lower meadows headed for the upper mesa.  Up on the mesa sighting wild game is a daily occurrence and the view offers non-stop photo ops.  We’ll stop for a short break at a remote hunting camp and sip hot chocolate around the wood stove.  The dogs will noisily let us know when break is over and we’ll load up and head back to the ranch.

This tour requires no experience; there is no age limit, and no specific level of fitness.

 Pick up times: 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Reservations will be confirmed with a major credit card. Cancellation less than 48 hours will be charged 100%.

ADVENTURE TOUR

This tour is run at our remote cabin site at the foot of two of Colorado’s highest peaks. This trip requires no previous experience, but does require a reasonably moderate level of fitness due to the type of trail, high altitude, remote location, and the use of snowmobiles to reach the cabin.  Once at the cabin, relax in front of the wood stove or bundle up and pitch in as we get teams of extremely excited Alaskan huskies ready to go roaring off down the trail.   Our trail winds among eighty foot tall lodgepole pines, abandoned gold mines, and old miners cabins.   There are very few flat spots on this trail and to make it exciting for the dogs, our guests, and ourselves, we run a different trail every day.   After the ride, try snowshoeing, tubing the “Chute”, skijoring, or just relax while we grill the burgers.  There is a 350 pound weight limit in the sled.   One trip daily pick up at 8:00 am.

SPECIALTY TOURS

These are custom designed trips requiring a high level of fitness and some winter outdoor experience.  These are hands on experiences.  The guest will be able to participate in all phases of the trip including harnessing and caring for the dogs, mushing a team, setting up camp, preparing meals, etc.  The guest is responsible for providing all personal clothing.  We supply all meals and lodging – tent, cabin, snowcave; you decide.  For a true dogsled camping experience the guest is welcome to sleep in the sledbag on the sled.

Minimum age is 16 (minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian).

CART RIDES AND RACING RIGS

Dogsledding without snow!  We've got two four wheeled carts (4 wheel independent suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, etc) ..   The small cart holds two people and a small child. The large cart carries up to six people.  Or we have two three wheeled racing rigs made for a guest drive themself.  See   Photos & Videos  page.  It's an amazing sled dog experience.  It's a very exciting ride that leaves no doubt how much the dogs love doing what they do.   Adults will be given the opportunity to drive the cart too.

The tour itself will last an hour and a half.  Tours are at daily at 7:30 and 9:30 am.
